Replace the S2000...

Fox and Robby have nailed it

Man up and smell the popsicles, you are losing your mind.

Keep the S2000 and live with it. If you want to feel something even less refined than your S200 then come in my DC2, it rattles, creaks, makes funny noises, bounces around, but boy does the fun wipe all those problems away once she comes on song!!

Just noticed you live in the Lake District! Come the summer it must be awesome to lose the hard top and go and play dodge the sheep, with that kind of scenery whizzing past your face.

Think I hit report instead of reply.

Where is the boot leaking? Far left corner?

Right wing, I need to take the boot lining out completely, get in with a torch and get someone to run a hose over it I think.

It's sealed all around the seem where the wing meets the boot, but it's had a new rear wing at some point judging by the crap welding.

with regard to the wheels, its a case of "they all do that" Ive not seen an S2k without corroded wheels. Mine are in a terrible state and are being refurbed next month.

Just keep it! You live in the best place possible to enjoy an S2k in the summer! Didnt notice your location the first time round!

Ive never noticed stones making a noise under the car! its mainly speed bumps i have to contend with round here. Still wouldnt get rid of it though!

Should I have arch liners in the rear arches? Because that's where the majority of the noise is, sounds a lot like if you were to go off-track into the kitty litter.

I've been debating with work colleagues and friends as to what the next logical step is for an s2000. I honestly couldn't tell you. It's a car where you'd have to spend a lot of money to get anything similar and / or better.

The engine and gear box are beautiful, really great examples. The noise is makes, the way it handles and the added bonus of it being a convertable are hard to replicate in another car. Plus it's reasonably cheap to run, it's reliable to boot too.

I know why Simon has kept hold of his for so long now, as I honestly believe he doesn't know what he'd change it for. He had the newer Z4 I believe for a week and said it didn't compare.

Keep the car, get it repaired. Jobs a good'un. If you are really struggling and feel like you have lost the love for it and watch a change, you'll have to scratch that itch. A TT is not the way to go though and I think after being in the s2000 you'll find the 350Z uninvolving to drive.

Noise issues?

Get a new exhaust system/intake and/or floor it more and/or turn up the music and/or get the roof down. :D

Our roads are terrible also, but that can never detract from the enjoyment of me driving the car enough to warrant getting something wafty.

I got an s2k too and understand the ops problems with the car. It's a double edged sword coz in the summer with the roof down... It makes it all worth it!!

As above

But i'd get some nice aftermarket wheels and fit a hard top which will be expensive but will quieten down the cabin

A hard top has to be the most pointless accessory for a convertible. It prevents you from enjoying those random wonderful days that occur in the late autumn/winter/early spring when the weather is just perfect.

Sound familiar? :D:p He probably noticed before a small lake had appeared though.

I have a fellow OcUK member to thank for finding it for me, I looked over that area so much and missed it. :p

Thanks F355.

Mine was a hairline crack on the side of the rain channel on the boot.

Prob with mine now is the roof is ripping apart from the inside. :\

Used to check it a lot then boom, torn. :(

Hi, it just sounds like a few niggles about the car are getting you down!! They can be easily sorted. Get it sorted for summer and you'll love it again.

I have considered an upgrade too but would have to spend a lot to get the enjoyment and performance the S2000 offers.

As said take the airbox off and floor it, always feels good! Mine doesn't have rear arch liners, the stones will be hitting the back box.

As for the leak I had one on each side, it was a tiny little raised bit in the rain channels. filled it with Vaseline :p A hose should find it though!

The rest sounds cosmetic and not bad either. I went to castleton and around that area last summer and the roads were immense (for the few days of sun we had) So errrrr don't sell it!:D

Boot liner is out! Let's just say the boot well... I had to pale it out.

Now to find the time to shut myself in there..
