Looks like mine may on way out(tablet), have to wiggle it around and get into certain position before starts charging, wondering if fixable yourself, I have solder iron although not fine point. Anybody have issues with interface and had it fixed or fixed it themselves. Are most of these interfaces standard size or would you need to find one extact for your model?

Seems a real weakness on phones(or tablet) as if goes down your totally stumped.

It depends on the model on how easy it will be to fix, some are connected with a ribbon connector to the mainboard so it's as simple as unclipping it from the case and pulling the ribbon connector free.

Often its a SSOP (0.635mm) type spacing between the pins - doable with a fine bit soldering iron but very tricky.

I've replaced a couple in the past in Samsung phones. On both occasions they were connected by a ribbon. But getting the phone apart was a little tricky. You can usually buy the tools and part on eBay. I suggest looking on YouTube for your exact device and seeing if someone has done it before. It could need soldering depending on the model.

Think people are talking at slightly cross purposes here?

Resoldering the socket itself would be a job for the right equipment and experience soldering components that small - most phones have a separate daughter board that the USB socket itself sits on which does normally connect back to the mainboard with a ribbon connector and the daughter board is available for many phones and more practical to replace than trying to fix the board itself and in most cases does not require soldering to replace.
