Replaced the B3 with a G0....

...and here are my initial findings...

With the B3 I could hit 3ghz with stock volts on the CPU, 1.3v CPU VTT, 1.5v NB, 1.55v SB 1.4v HTT. Max temp on the hottest of the cores was 72c with 4 instances of Prime95.

Now, with the G0, I can hit 3ghz with stock volts on the CPU, 1.3v CPU VTT, 1.45v NB, 1.55v SB 1.3v HTT. Max temp on the hottest of the cores is 62c with 4 instances of Prime95. Although I think the ambient temp is about 3c lower than it was when I recorded those temps with my B3.

Although, I did have to go back to Bios 12 for the overclock to operate. It would not play ball at all with version 13 for some reason, yet the B3 worked fine with 13:confused:

...So, all in all, I reckon the G0 runs around 8-10c lower at full load than the B3. It's good to see those lower temps, however I expected a little better. Maybe the fact that I used Ceramique rather than AS5 this time has something to do with that? Maybe the paste is not quite installed right, or maybe it's because it has not cured yet.

Should I consider going back to the AS5, or give it a few days and see how it goes?

Will have a play over the next few days as the paste cures and see if I can get any more out of this new chip. 3ghz was the ceiling with the B3, but temps were it's main enemy, so maybe I can squeeze another bit out of the G0.:D

My G0 runs at 28C idle when clocked at 3Ghz and never goes above 50C with full prime small ftt load on all cores. Your temps are pretty warm.

What are you using to check those temps? Is that each individual core using CoreTemp?

Also, bear in mind that my system is air cooled and nigh on silent. The loudest thing in there is an Akasa Amber 120mm fan running at full speed (18db). It's the only fan in my sytem at full speed, all the rest are running low speed via either a fan controller or the uGuru chip.

Temps checked with core temp on each core. I have a Zalman 9700NT at half speed, 1x 200mm fan on the side window, 2x 120mm case fans, 2 x 80mm case fans and the PSU fan. My system isn't silent but it is absolutely fine.

i get the same temps 28c idle, 40-42c under load from everest ultimate , but i take it the true temp is +15c? :)

west coast of scotland is warm mate :),but back on topic ,i didnt believe my temps were that low i just took it i had to add 15c? anyone know is this right?

Fair enuff.. erm i think he ment ad 15C to a certain out of date core temp not everest.. so get the latest core temp and see what that is saying. so how warm is warm then? its pretty cold here today south of london.... while there has been sunlight my pc is loving the cooler weather :)
