I got my replacement 2405fpw from dell today and GREAT! the dvi works again..

however, when I leave the monitor, rather than going into power saving mode it starts alternating full screens of black, white, green, red and blue which looks suspiciously like a test mode.

Anyone know how/if I can get it to stop it?

Mine did that after I entered the hidden factory menu. I liked it personally, good pixel and uniformity checker.

how do you get into the factory menu? I'm sure i can just turn this off somehow.

The backlight is great and there are no dead pixels so I'm quite keen to keep it.

Err, best to google it...I *think* it was hold '+' and whichever button is left of '-', then switch it on. It is a menu to fear though, can't make peace with the colour cycling?

1. Powering off your screen
2. Holding down MENU and + buttons while powering it on
3. Release those buttons and enter the MENU
4. Select FACTORY RESET
5. Scroll down to FACTORY

its not a case of making peace with it, the monitor never goes into sleep mode so it would just be on cycling through the colours ALL night etc.. totally unneccessary.

well the menu and + thing didn't seem to do anything, I went to factory reset but it carried on doing what it was doing and its just not right that I have to turn it off to stop it turning into a mobile disco.

Am I missing something with this service menu?

I have it on DVI, i turn it off and then hold down menu and + and try to turn it on and nothing happens so I release the menu/+ and then turn it on and quickly press menu and + but the menu looks like the normal menu?

Does it need to be connected via vga or something?

if when you go into settings its says Samsung and V x.x for firmware then that means you are in the menu. works fine here

factory reset dosent reset the settings it takes you to another menu jsut had look at mine says 14932 hours, ive put some milage on mine:)

just hold down menu and + buttons before you switch on till pick apears then let go and press menu

turn off

hold down menu and +

turn on

monitor comes on... (still with bottons pressed) nothing else happens, I've held the buttns down for about a minute..

I release them and try pressing menu and that just brings up the standard menu???

I've also tried holding down menu and + with the monitor switched off.. nothing doing..

Any ideas?

Are you connected via vga or dvi?

you need to let go once tis on and you see a picture, then press menu menu looks almost the same bar the words samsung and firmware number being shown. i am connected via dvi but it works on my 2nd pc which is connected via vga as well

thats great, I'm ALWAYS in the factory menu by the looks of things which is why I wasn't seeing anything different, I also didn't know to keep scrolling on the reset menu to "factory" because it doesn't look like its in the list lol.

Been in there, turned burn in to off (which was on..) bet that sort it.

Cheers!
