Just in time for my summer projects, all my Dewalt batteries seem to have died at the same time.

Problem is that I have 2 drills, circular and reciprocating saws and a jigsaw, so I need to stick with the brand. Do any of you have any experience with replacement batteries or can you point me to a supplier for genuine batteries for not a lot of pennies. All my stuff is 18v.

The last time I bought a Chinese battery, it barely lasted one job as the connectors just burnt out :(

Unfortunately the stick type seems to be mega expensive now DeWalt have moved onto the new sliding type battery. The sliding type are really cheap compared, I think its due to the protection circuitry etc is now housed inside the tool and not inside every battery. Also I guess they are trying to tempt people to move onto the new battery type.

I'll have a look later to see what i can find. I think the best prices I could find last time I was looking where from US sellers on Ebay. It would only be cheaper if you dont get hit with customs charges though.

The Lithium Nano are supposed to last for over 1000 charges, which is a lot more than the 500 or so the NI-MH are rated for, but you'd need the charger if you don't already have one.

EDIT: wow, just had a quick look and the prices have shot up loads. I think you'd be better off buying a new tool with 2 batteries with it.

£54 here for the 2.6ah NI-MH, which is half the price of screwfix. They do the Nano 2.0ah for £75 as well. I'll have another look later on as I could do with another batt.

Not a bad price for the 2.6ah at all, I wonder if its a genuine dewalt or a Chinese copy?

Problem with buying a new tool is that my old tools wont be compatible with the new type batteries, or they only give poxy 1.3ah batteries.

Another option is to repair my own batteries I guess.

Doesn't surprise me at all, Dewalt moving on to the slide mount, Bosch, Makita both have done it.

In a ideal world it would be better to put the old drill, etc on the bay, & buy new kit as already mentioned.

You can get genuine slide mount 18v XR Lithium Ion Battery Pack 4.0Ah for £89, seen them at £65, if you shop around, the old style battery prices are a rip off.
