replacement battery options for iphone 4s

googling doesnt give that much out , just lots of battery saving tips but my iphone 4s is pretty much 2 years old now and i cant help but think the battery isnt at its finest anymore

im looking to keep the phone for now on a rolling monthly contract because quite frankly it does everything i need , it is the perfect size for me , has great apps available still and still has a very competitive camera

does anyone do any sort of 'uprated' battery for the iphone 4s ? and if so does anyone have any experience of them ? if not then has anyone bought a more 'official' or atleast well made standard battery that they would recommend ?

Apple will do it. From the website "Service arranged through Apple costs £ 55.00. A £ 7.44 shipping fee will be added if this service requires shipping. All fees are in British Pound Sterling and include VAT"

Obviously cheaper if you use some third party websites or do it yourself, I tried on my old 3G and managed to damage the touch screen controller, so there is some risk involved the 4S may be easier to change the battery on.

I am using the 4S and if it needed a new battery would just pay apple to do it as if they screw it up you would get a replacement phone.

Replacement battery cost me £12 off ebay a few months ago. It's literally 3 screws and took about 10 mins. It might be a bit fiddly removing the original battery as its held down by glue but it's pretty straighforward.

edit: will also need to spend an extra 25-50p on the pentalobe screwdriver for the outside screws.

I did this about 4 weeks ago, was much much easier than I expected and cost less than £15 in total.

This, I change and replace Iphone screens and getting the battery out is a doddle.
there will be plenty of vid's on youtube and I got a a extended battery of the bay for my daughter works fine, no problems with it at all.

I replaced the back with one that has the stripes accross it ( like the iphone 5) while i was there as it was only a extra fiver

Oh i forgot to mention that the battery I replaced in my 3G started to expand, the back on my 3G started to bulge. I guess been a cheap thing off ebay it I was unlucky and it was a faulty battery, but something else to bear in mind if you go cheap off the net.

Yeah, I wouldn't mess around if I was changing the battery, modern batteries can be nasty things if they go wrong so I wouldn't trust a non OEM cheapy part. Not worth ruining the phone or burning your house down to save a few quid.

OP - I'd just take it to an Apple store, the 4S isn't 'that' old so they may even do a freebie, you never know. We've still got a 4 and it's battery is still fine so you could argue that for a 4S to have a failing battery already is a bit soon.

This isnt just aftermarket, i have had a few 3g/3gs that have done that. All with OEM batteries. after doing some online checks it seems to be that if the phone is left discharged for a while and then charged, the battery inflates, and can bend and even snap the circuit board, screen or rear housing.

I'd be more worried about the fact I keep my phone next to my leg rather than the phone breaking or the house burning down
