Replacement Budget Card

Hi Guys, I'm looking for a replcement card to go in my server @ home, I'm currently running a "OcUK GeForce 8500 GT Extreme 256MB GDDR3" which I purchased from here quite a while back when I only intended it to be a media server...now I'm trying to playback some HD content, and it's struggling...

Could anyone recommend me a cheap card which can handle playback of 1080p files?

aye, that's a pretty good bargain for the money, would it play hd content smoothly tho?

I'm looking to play 1080p downloaded content over vlc player, not disks via a blueray..

If i need to cough up the extra for the better card, I will.

VLC doesn't support hardware acceleration, it's just using your CPU and not the 8500GT.

It should be fine, but if you have windows media centre id consider using that instead
