Replacement camera needed - advice and assistance required please

My daughter is a countryside ranger. Her team had their old Nikon coolpix camera nicked several weeks ago and the insurance is due to pay out next week.

They will have up to £250 to spend on a replacement - not much I know.

However, bearing in mind their maximum budget, their requirements are as follows:
1. Pocketable but not necessarily micro
2. Good picture quality for items below
3. Need to take landscapes of their countryside sites.
4. Need to be able to take pictures of the results of fly-tipping.
5. Capable of providing an image from which an A4 print can be taken for the above.
6. A requirement for some macro work taking pictures of insects, bugs etc., etc. for identification purposes.
7. Decent zoom
8. Be reliable

I'd be grateful for any advice and assistance.

Ah the good old does everything and fits in your pocket camera .

Only things that I can think of that have good zooms and are small-ish are the Canon G6/G9 and the Panasonic DMC-TZ3. They would be worth a look. Any camera you buy will do A4 prints I would imagine, a lot will even do A3. Landscape shots can be done with any camera too more or less. Most compacts have crazy depth of fields compared with DSLR cameras so they would all do macro shots to some degree, performance varies.

Depending on your zoom requirements everyone seems to recommend the Fuji F31, I've got one myself for trips to the pub when my D200 would get mashed.

The Panasonic DMC-TZ3 would be ideal, big zoom and it's very wide at its lowest focal length making it ideal for landscapes.

Personally, although I'm a couple of stages removed from the decision making process, the Panasonic looks a good bet.
