Any recommend me a replacement card for a ATI 5870, as looks like its packing up, sometimes during bootup the fan goes crazy, don't get anything on screen, I reseat the card and it works again, defaintly think the card is going.

This is just a backup pc to my main gaming pc so nothing expensive, maybe £50 is maximum I want to pay. I might have odd game run on it, but nothing top end.

For a used card the minimum you should be looking at:
HD 7850 / GTX 660
R7 265 / GTX 750TI

You might find the first two used for around £50 if you look hard enough, check the forums Member Market, also make a request in the Wanted section.

Had the same issue with a 5850 yesterday. Turns out I forgot to connect the two six-pin PCI power adaptors. Likely not the same issue but just incase :) they're easily forgotten if you've been tinkering.

Yeah looking at the specs a 750ti is minimum to at least get what I had before, and we are talking around £100 new that is.

If you are willing to look 2nd hand, a HD7850 for around £50 should be around 35-40% faster than the HD5870.

But I would recommend spending a little more and try to look for a HD7950/R9 280 for under £75 instead.
