In preparation for getting the Toledo REVO'd (whenever I can afford it) I'm going to be sorting out the breathing on the car, i.e. induction and exhaust. I've been told that the standard dump valve is a bit crap and will probably blow under the power increase so I'm going to swap it.

I've been recommended the Forge 007 and the Bailey single piston, both recirculating valves as the blow off valves don't work right on the VAG 1.8T. Out of those two which would be best suited for my plans? Power isn't likely to get over 220-230bhp.
Another thing, do these sound any different to the standard valve?

Feel free to recommend other brands.

Ta :)

I would guess being recircs, they shouldnt make any noise at all. I would go for the Forge out of those two, although I have never tried either, Ive heard loads of people having trouble with Baileys leaking etc.

There are loads of other brands but its a case of whether there is a fitting kit out for your car as most of the ones I know of are Japanese brands.

From all the VAG forum I post on it seems they both have a massive following, but a lot of the time the fact they do simply the same job just as well people tend too opt for the Baileys ( as I did ) due to the fact the Forge has internal parts that need servecing every so ofter where as the Baileys doesn't.

From what I have been reading with regards to modding my Cupra R, the forge stuff is supposed to be pretty much spot on for the 1.8T :)

Personally looking at the forge recirc valves, and the FMIC :)

I'd go with the Forge 007 myself. Sure, it needs a new spring every couple of years, but it's cheaper than buying a whole now re-cirq.

Also they do it in mat black, which is handy for not mentioning it to the insurance company. It's a direct replacement part and offers no performance gains, so there's no reason to anyway.

The Revo should be mentioned though. ;)

Also if you do want that whooshy whooshy sound, think about an induction kit (you must get a dry/foam kit!). Although the 1.8t is a re-cirq. you can hear it dump through the induction kit to an extent. Just don't expect any kind of high pitch chirp or anything. If you have the vents open in the car and accelerate then release at around 2700 rpm, you can usually hear it dump from inside the car. Thats what you'll get on the outside with induction. I would recommend induction (if you don't mind the noise) to go hand in hand with Revo.

Consider getting both of those before Revo to get the best gains.

You can get a 5 hour free trial of Revo anyway to make sure you like it. Also, it may be worth checking the MAF is within spec before having it Revo'd. They are a pain in the rear and and often fail, although thats mainly when someone fits a K&N oiled induction kit (or any other oiled kit).

I guarantee that if you have the 5 hour trial, you will be buying the full thing at the end of the day! :)

Then in 6 months, Revo stage two! Although then you need to splash more cash on exhaust etc.
