Replacement DVD drive for Acer laptop Extensa

Hi, a lad on my coridoor at uni has managed to damage his CD/DVD drive on his laptop.

The laptop is an Acer Extensa 5620G.

I have been looking on OCUK and notice some laptop drives are Sata but I have no idea whether his is or not.

Don't really want to dismantle the laptop until he has the new part.

I have already checked the Acer website and they only have Extensa 5630 models of laptop.

Anyone got any ideas?

check device manager and it should tell you the drive model, will be easy to work out from that.

Device manager says:

DVD A DS8A1P ATA Device

The laptop in question was a cheap one. Are laptop drives just like desktop ones in the way that all I need to know is that it is ATA in order to buy a new one from OCUK?

Thats an IDE type drive not sata this should help you choose.
