Replacement fan for PSU

Anyone know if you can simply replace a PSU fan with one of the same size? I have an FSP epsilon 700w and when its under a lot of load the fan speed increases which then becomes the noisiest thing in my setup - looking to replace it with a quieter fan such as a 120mm Amber....possible?

Yup, chucked a nexus into my Tagan PSU after the fan developed a click. Silence once more, ahhhhhh.

I replaced the fan in my Epsilon with a Nexus and then an Amber and it didn't work, with the Nexus the thermal protection would cut in within minutes. The Amber faired better but if you were under load for any length of time it would trip out as well.

Edit: I used an external molex to power it as the fan connector on the stock one is tiny.

Make sure you leave your PSU plugged in but switched off for 24hrs or face certain death.
