Just sold my 1070ti looking for a replacement .

Main games I play are Cs go , two point hospital, gta 5 in 1080p.

Rest of system is 8400, 16gb ram.

Is the 5700 or 5700xt worth getting over the Nvidia cards ?

Please note my monitor is an xg2402 which is 144hz 1080p freesync monitor

The only game remotely demanding on the list of ones you play is GTA V, and you say that's at 1080p? Therefore should easily be able to get mega fps on a 1070 Ti.

I also sold a 1070 Ti, but that was because of FreeSync/GSync issues and tad disappointing performance at 3440x1440 @ 100 hz.

If you could explain why you've sold your 1070 Ti and what performance/features you're looking for/issues you had with the 1070 Ti, it may help with advice.

More of an upgrade itch if anything, plus I have an freesync monitor so makes sense to go down the and route rather than Nvidia

GTA V plays better on Nvidia, so you kinda shot yourself in the foot. Tho tbh GTA V is a miserable performer anyway.

Personally I'd be upgrading the 8400 before the Ti at 1080p

Yeah, but it's done now.

Buy a 5700 XT.

Assuning the 1070 Ti was sold for around £250, a decent AIB 5700 would cost an additional £100 for only a very slight increase in performance (and a decrease in GTA V). For a further £70-£80 a decent AIB 5700 XT can be had, offering a genuine upgrade (albeit still not huge).

The other reasonable option if that's too much would be a 5700 Reference card. They can be found as low as £310, so not much extra outlay and you do gain a bit of performance and freesync and a fresh warranty. So not bad value really.

He's got a freesync monitor so should use amd card and let freesync do it's magic for butter smooth gameplay.

Nvidia cards can utilise freesync though so null point.

5700Xt if you want new or second hand 1080ti can be had for similar money and will outperform the 5700XT in most situations.
