I'm revamping my setup and am looking at replacing my 1920 x 1200 24" Dell U2412M monitors. My push for change is the pixel density. I've had a laptop with a 15" 2880x1800 screen since 2012 and whilst I obviously don't sit as close to my desktop screens, I do see the pixels (and yep, I'm fussy!).
Secondary push is that I'm looking at getting back into PC gaming.
I keep flipping between a ~34" 21:9 and one or two 27" 4K screens.
The 21:9 screens appeal as they way I'd like to use them as to be able to side by side various things when I'm working (I'm a software engineer and work from home often) but then when gaming I've got a single, central screen that I can game on. Currently I have to pick left or right and then sit wonky at my desk. I like the desk to be symmetrical and have the two 24" screens with their bezels touching in the centre of the desk.
Then a 27" 4K appeals has a much better pixel density. Perhaps I could adapt to working on a single screen. I could get two screens, but then I'd end up with the same problem as I have now with having to pick a left or right screen. Would a single 4K screen be better for gaming?
Do monitors these support PiP / split screen for multiple inputs. Could I feed a 21:9 or 4K screen multiple inputs (thinking of my work laptop not being up to driving a 4K screen!)?
I guess what I really want is a ~32" screen that is 7680 x 2160 and at least 100Hz.
This will all be driven (mostly) by a 1950x, 32GB, Vega64 and a MacBook Pro 15 2017 (Radeon Pro 560).
Can anyone help me narrow down what I might want, or not want. Connection wise, USB-C would be a welcome bonus for connecting to the MacBook. Budget top end would be around £1k I think. Though I keep my screens for a long time and don't mind paying for quality with them.
