Hi All,

Been out of the graphics loop for a while now, but recently my 7800GT has started to have major flickering issues so I'm looking into replacing it. Price is a fairly key factor in this so from looking through the catalog I'm swaying towards a BFG 7900 GS OC 256Mb. Is this a worthy replacement?

Thanks,

Ino

Flickering!

What do you mean by flickering?

I have had my new card a month and I sometimes get a black flicker like a program is doing something in the background, this only happens like once every 5 hours or so

Its something to do with Microsoft downloads mate

Its is quicker, its sits in between the 7800GT & 7900GT in performance.
You could also look at the cheaper & quicker Sapphire ATI Radeon X1900 GT 256MB (also the HIS ATI Radeon X1900 GT ICEQ 3 SILENT Heatpipe 256MB) or the quicker still Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB (this is also cheaper).

The Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB would be my choice if you want the most performance improvement.

Cheers stevechapman, but it is definately not a Microsoft download issue, The whole image suffers from it but it is especially bad in an areas of darkish colour. The best way to describe it is it is like setting a refresh rate too low on a CRT. But it's not quite so bad!!

Thanks ACESHIGH, I was hoping to avoid ATi as I haven't got along with their drivers in the past and I find for colour reproduction Nvidia seem to have the edge. Of course it could have changed since I was up to date on all this!

Thanks,
Ino
