Hey all,

The teflon pads on my G5 have worn out and the buttons occasionally stick, but after 5-6 years I cannot complain.

I use this mousemat:

The G5 has DPI changing buttons on which is nice, although it only has a back button, not a forward one (although I have seen it with them in recent years).

No idea what to spend. This mouse has been fantastic though.

I use the PC for internet and gaming (FPS as I use the 360 pad for other things).

What do OCUK recommend?

i upgraded from the G5 to the G500 the G500 superceds the G5 and only costs £30 currently since there is another that logitech have released, this been the G700 i believe although in all honesty i have been that happy with the G500 i haven't even been to review the G700, i know there's a better 1 still that is fully configurable to the size of your hand out there as i have seen my bro looking at it, it did look space agey but i think it'll cost a small fortune, I advise going for the G500 fully customizable in terms to a macro manager etc,
I'm really unsure i'll ever change from a G500 as it is the one mouse I have come to know and adore playing games with, it also has very nice auto switching between configurations for different programs which is very handy for browsing the net to playing all types of various games without the need of going into the configuration to switch settings.

edit - this post was empty as i started to type and wow.... all i can say is great minds think alike

MX518 or Kone if you're feeling like a change/rich.

Or you can buy new pads for your current mouse?

haha i love my g5, worried about upgrading and not liking it :(

are the dpi changing buttons in a good position? i'm worried about pressing them by accident

believe me after upgrading from a G5 to a G500 there will be no looking back apart from when saying i can't believe i didn't upgrade sooner, the dpi's are perfectly possitioned, the only time you can hit the wrong button is if you configure 2 programs alike with different commands, all buttons are completely configurable other than the left and right mouse button, if you change the left click to right click in 1 configuration then that'll change it to the same left and right click in all configurations

My G5 wore out, so I emailed Logitech explaining that the right-click had become sticky and attached a picture of the mouse and the serial number on the underside.

It was about four years old and I didn't have the receipt...they sent me a G500 for nothing, and I'm delighted with it!

I went from a G7 (ie. wireless G5) to a Saitek Cyborg R.A.T. It's not exactly the cheapest mouse but I would give it some consideration. Absolutely love the customisation of it.

Awesome!
What email address did you use?

similar thing with my Z-5500's when the LED wore out on the control unit. Just sent them a pic and the serial....couldn't send receipt. Got an email a day later saying the new unit was in the post.

They have AMAZING customer service. cannot complain at all.

When my G5 gives up the ghost I'll email them and hope for the best

I would contact logitech and see if they can sort you out with some new pads before your order a new mouse they can be rather helpful.
