Hi Folks,
I am having problems with my system, it occasionally gives a Blue Screen of Death with differing error messages. I have had:
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
BAD_POOL_CALL
and various others. The error message seems to be random. I have also had freezing, and crashing and rebooting without any error message.
My system is
QX6700
Artic 7 cpu cooler
P5N32-E SLI
Nvidia 8800 GTX
2 GB Gskill memory ( 2 * 1 GB modules)
2 * 500 MB sata drives
1 IDE DVD writer.
1 floppy drive.
Antec 900 case.
Vista 64 home premium.
The system will run fine for weeks, then will start playing up. Once it starts to crash it will do so repeatedly until I remove a memory module. The system will then run fine with either memory module in it, but not both, so I don't believe it's the memory.
The system is not clocked.
The Asus p5n32-E has a bad reputation concerning its ability to handle 4 Gb of ram, so I was considering changing it anyway as I would like to upgrade to 4Gb.
What motherboard would you recommend as a replacement? The Asus has on-board sound, and I would like the replacement board to have that as well.
The last machine I built I used a GigaByte board and never had any problems with it. I would rather not replace the Asus board with another Asus.
Thanks,
Martin
