I remember the 8800 GT being the "Recommended" spec on game boxes forever.

Probably had one of the longer reigns as bang-for-buck favourite.

1030 is a great choice at this level and at that resolution will play nearly all modern games.

BUT! (mods feel free to edit if you think its too close to price discussion)

40 quid is a very very good price, only seen a couple go at that price on the forums here and MM is definitely cheaper than the online auction house. Did you buy it second hand? Are you importing from China? Because there are a ton of fake cards doing the rounds at unrealistic prices.​

I think I've done well finding it.

The guy had a couple up for sale, Asus OC edition for £50. I offered £45 which was accepted and I had a £5 voucher which knocked it down to £40, so bang on budget.

UK seller, provided a Royal Mail tracking number, so hopefully all good.

Loved my 8800GT, was my last Nvidia card as after that I found better value in the AMD mid range stuff.

The 1030 was installed earlier today, no issues.

Very happy with the purchase, they were amazed they could watch 4k YouTube videos...even though the screen is at a much lower resolution
