Hi all,

I'm looking for a mobo replacement. I don't have too many requirements but never been happy with this one mainly because the 2 onboard NICs refuse to run at 1Gbps most of the time and overclocking screws the gfx card PCIe speed.

Anyways I want eSata, (working) 1Gbps NIC and that's pretty much it :) Maybe crossfire support too? Currently it has an E6300 C2D in it along with 2GB Corsair RAM. Not wanting to upgrade those yet but would like to be able to overclock the CPU if possible.

I've been out of the mobo game for a couple of years so not sure what's good, which chipset to go for etc?

Answers on a post card etc etc :)

Cheers!

Paul.

P45 is the chipset to go for unless you're certain to want Crossfire, and the X38 or X48 can be considered. Tho the P5B Deluxe was considered to be a very good board, certainly more than good enough for a E6300.

What's your budget?

Cheers for the speedy reply! Budget probably up to £100 if pushed.

P5B was/is a good board but I have heard of other people with problems with the NICs not working properly (it'll boot at 1GBps then you reboot and it's dropped to 100 :( ) plus tho I've not checked the primary PCIe slot dropped down to 1x when I altered any of the memory timings to match my memory.

If you don't mind going for ASUS again then any of the new P45 based P5Q range will do the trick.
