replacement for an MX518

Do the G400's still have the cable issues that afflicted them? I went through 3 mice in 5 months due to the same issue that Logitech acknowledged as a manufacturing error. Havent looked at the G400 since - replaced it with a SS Kinzu V2 Pro, which is imo better than the G400 and cheaper to boot.

what's the cable issue you speak of?

Same issue as the MX518 commonly suffered from?

The cable breaks inside near where it leaves the mouse body as strain relief was insufficient.

That's what happened to my MX518 but logitech warranty service was so good I won't buy anything else now and have a deskful of Logitech stuff. I didn't even have the receipt any more but they verified eligibility on manufacturing date/serial number. Sounds obvious and sensible but many/most manufacturers would not do this.

Exactly what Nealio said. Everyone I knew that had a G400 had the same issue, and as I previously said, I went through 3 in 5 months. Logitechs customer service was flawless on the matter but I completely lost confidence in their mice post-issues.

That sounds exactly like it. The fact I run a low sens and move my arm to aim translates to a lot of stress and movement on the cable, which probably compounded the issue.

You can buy a replacement cable off a popular auction site for a few quid.

Good to know, but might check warranty status on the mouse first. Pretty sure it's out of warranty but I know Logitech are damn good with their customer service so may get something out of them - even a discount off a new mouse fro their website ;)

Just upgraded from MX500 to G400s. Was not disappointed.

Good to hear. Cheers.
