Replacement for dead 7800gtx

Friend is wanting to replace his dead 7800gtx with a card of similar or slightly better performance (to keep outlay down), his computer is used solely for Battlefield 2...any recommendations that i could forward on ?

something like a 4670 will destroy his card! maybe a 8800gt 256mb, what's his budget

His local comp shop has a BFG 9500gt in his price range, would this be up to the job ?

If the computer is only used for BF2 then the 512mb would be overkill and a waste of money. (This of course assumes that the 7800GTX was adequete for his needs).

The only thing that this computer is used for (over 2 years) is BF2,
he is thinking about a new system when he moves house (bout 6/9 months)
so was only looking something that would let him play BF2 adequately untill such times...

he would be better trying to extend his budget slightly and try and get a 4850 in all honesty.
