Hi all,

My wife has my old XPS 13 and really likes it, but it's beginning to fail (not reliably power on).

It's had a good innings (bought Jan 2013), so we're looking for a replacement.

Full specs here - https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_xps_laptop/xps-13-l321x-mlk_reference guide_en-us.pdf

But main points:

13"
1.3 kg
32 cm x 20 cm x 1.5 cm (approx.)
3rd gen i5

She doesn't need a dedicated GPU and wants something similar in size / style.

Since she doesn't need it to be powerful / touchscreen etc., the latest XPS 13 are outside of her ideal price range (the cheaper the better!).

As a laptop user myself, albeit gaming laptops, I'm more than happy replacing RAM / SSDs etc. if it gets a cheaper model.

Any suggestions on what makes / models to look for?

EDIT - ASUS Vivobooks like decent?

Acer Swift Ultrathin too, plus it's light, thin and aluminium.

Lenovo Thinkbook?

I guess around the £500 price point, there are LOADS! :D

I ordered my wife an XPS 13 in early June as she wanted a small laptop. (still haven't got it yet!)
Just be aware that when I was looking around that a lot of the smaller laptops now come with the RAM soldered to the mobo and can't be upgraded.
Her XPS 13 is one like that but it's got more than enough for her needs.

A lower range Dell maybe, the XPS is the fancy one that i never bought because i always found lenovo x1 carbons more to my taste
