Replacement for E6600 fan please.

My stock fan on my E6600 has finaly died. Can someone recomend a nice cheap replacement that i can just plug straight in without having to do anything odd with the motherboard.

does this one Cooler Master Hyper TX3 CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM3/775/1156) just clip in like the stock cooler did.

Because of problems with my hands i cant take the mobo out.

Also what can i use to clean the old thermal paste of the chip.

Yes it will but you will need plenty of room round your case, to get your hands in. But i would go with the arctic cooling freezer 7 (top left of page!) Its better.

I got my arctic freezer pro 7 in without taking the MOBO out and it runs very cool. E6600 27/29 idle in speedfan @ 3.2Ghz OC. Mid 50's loaded.

Woo computer works again. Said 28C in bios. Are there any good simple programs i can test temp with in windows?

Used "sticky stuff remover" to get rid of old thermal paste as I had read it was the same stuff that Akasa are selling (Tims fluid?)

I got the Arctic Freezer Pro 7, only bit that was a bit iffy was getting the fan back on.

Also I didnt want to screw it down too much, as im scared of snapping something. It seems fine and as i said the bios temp seemed reasonable. Im sure when someone points me to a piece of softwear i can test through windows the temp will have normalised.

ive downloaded something called Real Temp. What temp should you expect for E6600? looks like its floating around 50c idle.

50oc that's quite high even in this weather. It should be in the low 30's. Make sure its seated properly mate.

I would be more worried about cooking your CPU. What are your load temps?
