Hi Guys,

My NR609 is playing up, popping from side speakers and no sound unless I turn the receiver on and off a few times, all connections are fine. Looking for a good quality avr to replace it. Using MA BX2 5.1 speaker setup. Was gonna go for the Onkyo 1010 but maybe that's a bit overkill for the BX2's?

Ta:)

EDIT: The poping is when I first turn on and goes in a min or so. Once the amp does kick into life the sound is fine.

If you have a £2000 budget then i would upgrade those bx2's First then spend the rest on the av amp. Something from the ma rx or gx series with maybe an 818 amp.
If you have bx2 for the rears then keep those and swap out the front three.
The arcam will sound better but will be held back by the speakers, its like putting a ferrari v12 engine in a fiesta you wont get all the benifit.

I have a yamaha 3067 rrp £1500 got it for £700 a bit ago great bit of kit and it has 5.1 inputs that you want. New model are also pretty good but might be lacking in the 5.1 inputs that you need but that can be said about most manufacturers these days.

Metal mackey got the 818 for a really good price including the 5 year guarantee plus the official onkyo wireless dongle thrown in for free.

Set this all up today and must say it sounds awesome.......a nice improvement over the 609.
