been out of the loop with PC hardware for a while now.

started getting an irritating problem with my graphic where the NVidia drivers will stop responding and recover, except they don't always recover and sometimes force a pc restart, im presuming my GTX480 is on its way out (unless anyone knows how to fix this issue ofc)

have a new baby in the house so money is tight. but if I have to replace I want something at least comparable to old card and preferably something that wont need upgrading in 5 minutes.

so basically any suggestions?

thanks in advance

are you using the latest drivers? if not, update
if yes, try to roll back, or try beta.

do you get any artifacts? freezes, BSOD? especially under load? what about temps?

as for upgrade, I'd be looking at 280X, but hard to tell, if I can't see PSU.

PSU is a 750w Corsair unit that shipped with the pc when I brought it from OCUK a couple of years ago.

not really any symptoms, both screens go black for a second then come back on and I get a little windows error bubble to say Nvidia drivers kernel something something stopped responding but has recovered. or if it doesn't recover it goes black and then after 20 seconds pc restarts (or doesn't and I have to do it manually)

this tends to usually within first minutes of loading into windows so when still sat at windows screen or when I load first application, once im up and running I have no problems even with multiple programs running on both screens so it seems less likely a load / heat problem but I don't have any figures to prove this
