Hi guys,

My dog (yes really) decided to jump up on my sofa and munch on my remote. My fault, I should know by now Labs will always find a way.

The screen is just about usable but I get the feeling it'll stop sometime soon. Plenty of scratches and teeth marks as well and the touch sensitivity is going.

I read about Logitech stopping the manufacturer of these and the potential for support stopping at some point.

Aside from now using the phone app for it (the IR receiver still works ok) is there anything else on the market close to functionality (at least as good if not a bit better) ? I don't want to use a phone for it (watch movies on the projector so don't want to have to constantly look down to change the volume - which I often have to do with so many modern films / tv these days).

Other option is to just try and find a new remote to buy but so far nothing over here (Germany) .. and I don't want to be stuck with something that could just not work if Logitech decide it.

I found my old Logitech Harmony One in a box a while ago, got a new battery for it, and it works fine. No internet connectivity involved so can't be 'switched off' by anyone.

The configuration software is a bit archaic by modern standards, but works fine.

I’m getting slightly fed up of the clunky harmony app (only have the hub) and would be interested to know if there are any other decent alternatives out there.

The sofabaton x1 looks to be the nearest to a harmony replacement. If you don’t have an elite/companion remote to go with the hub then harmony would wind me up tbh. I really don’t want phone app as my remote, give me hard buttons any day

What battery did you buy? Mine is not holding a charge but there's loads of batteries out there to choose from and knowing my luck I'd buy a fake one!

Alternative thought, as an ex harmony user, try your TV's app on a tablet/phone instead (obv. depends on brand)

I am assuming when you mention app you mean the harmony app.

I know a pain if you want automation but there are ways around that.

I have a super old harmony 1100 and also yet to let it go.

Doesn't seem to be any alternative that's a touch on it. Not that I've seen.

I'm putting up with slightly stuff buttons etc.

I bought a Harmony Companion remote a year or so from CeX for £70, has felt like a very good buy. Does everything I need to control TV, AV receiver, Bluray.

Looks like they still have some
edit: probs shouldn't include link

Are Logitech getting rid of the harmony range then? I have a barely used elite, I use the companion remote loads . Works well.

Discontinued , no further updates

Who knows when their database of ir codes are shut off/ servers etc
Like wanting to play online/used car garage in GT PS3 it doesn't work anymore

Not sure what new remotes are available, the sofabaton apparently not great. I've managed to prolong the life of my remotes by cleaning the PCB contacts but they're still not 100%.
