Hi all

I think my HD7950 is starting to come to teh end of its useful life so I am looking to replace. I am thinking about a GTX1060 or a GTX 1050Ti. I only play Skyrim and Diablo 3 so am not looking for a top of the range card, but I alos want one that will handle these games fine, and I would prefer a card with less power draw and a bit quieter than my HD7950. When looking at the specs of the 1050Ti vs the HD7950 I notice that it has a smaller memory bus, less shader processing units and less texture mapping units. Will I notice a difference on this, and can anyone recommend me a good quiet unit please?

Unless you go second hand (like a 970), I think a 1060 3Gb would be the most sensible option given the current issues around GPU availability and price. I don't think there will be much (if any) of a performance gain going to a 1050ti.

I was in a similar boat with the 7950, it broke on me and now in an even worse boat with a 6950.

Initially I was going to go the 570 4GB as it was cheap, had decent VRAM and seemed more than suitable for 1080p (4GB is all important in my eyes for a bit of moderate future proofing at 1080p).
Admittedly the 1060 3GB is slightly faster - but I'd rather have that extra GB

But then the stock shortages kicked in.

So no idea what I'll end up going for - but if I was you I'd at least wait for now.

Especially as I've now put a deposit down for a puppy.
Puppy or GPU...I picked puppy :D
