Hi

My HD7950 card has just died so I need a replacement, I only really play wow at the moment so dont need anything too powerful but will probably try other more modern games in the future.

I'm thinking of getting an RX580 or RX5500XT, will these be complete overkill and will they work with my system? They require an 8 pin PCI power connector and my PSU only has two 6 pin connectors. Will using a single 8 pin to 6 pin adaptor provide enough power?

Are there better value Nvidia options at around this price?

Rest of system:

I5 4670
8 gig ram
Corsair HX520 PSU

Thanks for any help!

That's an old psu now, the general consensus would be to upgrade that along with the gpu. I probably wouldn't trust it, with an adaptor, with an rx580. That system is quite low-end by today's standards, so while a 5500xt may be tempting, it's probably slightly overkill.
I'd go for either a used 1060 for around £100, which uses a single 6 pin connector, or a single 6 pin rx 570.

If the hx520 is in good condition then it'll smash through just about any single card load. Although, are you sure you only have 6 pin pcie connectors ? It should have come with two 6+2 pin connectors.
