Hi guys,

I have had my poor old P182 for near on 4 years now.
I love how little noise comes from it and the build quality.
I have been looking for a new case for a while now, but i just cant find anything that I like!
Im not into all of the LED's etc, I like it to be as subtle as possible and as quiet as possible as I hate having a noisy system.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a case that could fit my purpose.
I require for all of the buttons etc to be on top of the case.

A black interior would be nice :P.

I did buy a Coolermaster Storm Sniper Black Edition back in January, but the quality was very poor in my opinion, very hollow and tinny feeling.

I am liking the look of the Corsair, and this at the moment:

Shame the Corsair costs so much otherwise I would have bought it by now :(. For me to spend that much on a case, it needs to be something extra special lol.

As for the Fractal im not so fond of doors.. Although the one on my current P182 does stop prevent a lot of noise.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers

Hi Nickson, hope your enjoying the GTX295 :)
If your going do the air cooling route the the CM HAF cases will keep the cpu and gru very cool, the problem with the Corsair case and lack of incoming air is well documented.. a side case fan or fan positioned at the bottom blowing air upwards in to the gpu makes for very good cooling.

Resonances and vibrations of metal sheets (it stops being sheet when you need forklift for moving case) can be easily stopped, assuming HDDs are soft mounted, with mass damping while also increasing acoustic opacity of panels.
With BeQuiet's combination mat (2mm bitumen+8mm foam) my Lian Li's side panels sound quite much like 2cm plywood when tapped which is probably quite similar to noise made by P18x side panels. (weight of the case still only ~12kg)

But when case has direct noise escape paths mass damping or anything makes only little difference because there's airborne sound leaking out in any case.
So it needs door or then front panel has to force sound to bounce around before getting out like in few newer Lian Lis.

You mean good airflow distraction

I was going to suggest a Fractal Design R2, then I notice you mentioned it at the end of your post and aren't keen on doors, well I have 2 of the R2's and they fit all of your criteria except that they have doors, albeit good ones ...and they help damp noise also, the Fractal doors have sound deadening foam on the inside surface.

All in all I think they are fantastic cases and they are quite good value too for what hey are.

Thanks for all of the replies guys, have been really helpful :).
Like the look of this:

Not sure on its sound deadening qualities though..
I am aware that its down to the components as to how quiet the computer is.
I run my P182 without the side panel (cooling issues), and at night I can barely hear it!
I can only hear it when gaming, and the fans ramp up!
At the moment I have my PC on the desk, next to me. But I plan to put it on the floor, hence why I want the power buttons headset etc on the top for easy access :).

I've had MAJOR GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) for that case for the last few weeks!

Looks AWESOME!!!!

And I'm not even on a P182... P180 here... and it's falling to bits... (USB ports broke on the front a while ago, haha), but it's still a great case :P

It really is, my temps have dropped loads aswell. If I remember later, I'll post some snaps of it.
