Hello all, I recently switched to Plusnet fibre 38MB. I find their router sloooow. I have a hard drive plugged in to it and copying files over the network is at a snail pace. Can anyone recommend something a little quicker? Not looking to spend a massive amount, will something £100 or under make much of a difference?

You will need a router with a high performance CPU for NAS purposes. Something like the Synology RT2600AC, no £100 router will offer decent performance.

Ok thanks for the recommendation. Has anyone tried a Raspberry Pi as Nas? I see plenty of guides out there but not sure how good it is.

It's going to be really slow same as a low end router. If you need decent speed you want to look at buying a QNAP or Synology NAS.

Is the Pi still limited to USB2.0 and 10/100Mbps Ethernet? If it is a NAS based on one will never be able to perform very well.

If you want a fast NAS you're better of buying a dedicated device.
