I have a Sabertooth p67 that I think has failed, I'm waiting for some new RAM to turn up to see if that's the problem, if not I'll be on the hunt for a new Motherboard.

I have a i7 2700k that is over-clocked and 2 GTX 570's although I might sell these and upgrade to a 6 series card that offer similar performance to the 2 570's

When I purchased the p67 the z68 chipset wasn't available, is there much benefit in upgrading to the Z68 chipset or should I look for another p67 board?

Budget is anything up to £150

Thanks

Although some Z68 boards are still around, arguably you may as well move up to a Z77 board.

If you wanted another Sabertooth the Z77 version is outside your budget at £189.

For your £150 budget - the MSI Z77 MPower would fit the bill, decent overclocker, and highly regarded.

I'm open to ideas and dont really have to stick to the sabertooth line of boards, I also have a Thermal take silver arrow which has a very big heatsink and covers the 1st ram slot, I'm not that bothered as I used slots 2 & 4 but it would be nice if this wasn't the case.

I've been out of the loop for a fair while now regarding stuff like this, from having a quick look around the web it would appear that the i7 3770k isn't a huge step above the i7 2700k in terms of performance?

Arguably then the MPower linked should suit you fine.

Ignore the 3770k to be honest, your 2700k will be just as fast and likely overclocks better too. The Z77 chipset mentioned is just an evolution of the Z68 chipset, but is the only "current" chipset that allows overclocking of the K series intel chips.

Ok, great.

Now this is a fairly elementary question but as form factor is the same are the connections on the board in the same position? Ie the Sata ports & usb headers?

i would choose the sabertooth z77
this is what it has just a direct cut from OCUK site

Intel Z77 Chipset, x4 DDR3, x3 PCI-E x16, x3 PCI-E x1, x6 SATA 6GB/s, x4 SATA 3GB/s, x1 Gigabit LAN, x6 USB 3.0, x10 USB 2.0, 7.1 HD Audio, SLI & Xfire Support

If your P67 doesn't work RMA it to asus if under 5 year old as it comes with a 5 year warranty like all sabertooths

Thanks for the reply, also please excuse my ignorance but I can't seem to find the RMA page for motherboards on the Asus site and on the ocuk website they say that they don't support motherboards over 12 months old and mines about 20 months old now...who should I contact??

I have a 15month P67 Sabertooth which has failed as well , but you look at that page there is mention of motherboads I can't even find a phone number or email address on the site easier to RMA the dam thing!

If you have any questions please contact ASUS UK support on 0844 800 8340 (charged 5ppm from a BT Line) or alternatively submit your question online from http://vip.asus.com/eservice/techserv.aspx

Thats in the middle of that page.
