Hi, Im currently with Sky with ADSL on a 16mb connection(occasionally!)

The crap router they supply is painful, it slows down, drops the internet and becomes disconnected from some of my devices wireless connections, it almost never reconnects till power is cycled...and its getting worse.
Its always been rather meh but lately Im re starting it daily to keep speeds high enough to use internet let alone gaming!!
Its two years old in Jan.

In the past Ive used TP link, D link etc and never had problems using three other providers, what do you recommend brand wise that performs well and will work on the Sky network, Id thought Id read somewhere that sky dont like you using your own router??

Thanks for any help or advice.

Ok Ive found the Wireshark program so its really down now to what peoples opinions are for a good quality router, not purchased a new one for about 5 years or more...

I have 2 xboxes (one in use at a time as are on different floors...)
1x wireless cctv
1x kodi streaming box
1x gaming pc on 4th floor hardwired through a TP link homeplug which also doubles as a wireless repeater.
+ various laptops, mobile phones nintendo DS's

The house is over 4 floors with the router on the 2nd, the house is 18 months old so the the walls arent that thick...
The sky router is very weak on the 4th floor hence the use of the wired gaming pc through the wifi repeater homeplug which works well till the sky router wobbles...

I would have to say that apart from the CCTV being on permanently most other stuff is fairly lightly used, was just trying to outline what devices are connected to the router and what I use it for.

Thanks.

No tbh, It's just been very unreliable of late

I thought it may have been a good idea to go for a more powerful router with dual band and gigabit Ethernet as the sky router is the same unit which has been around for years.....
May just check if there is an update but I have in the back of my mind it does it automatically?

Thanks.

Thank you for the starting point!!, The Asus routers seem to get pretty good reviews, although the current ADSL equivalent model looks expensive....
Will have a look over weekend, I'm definitely dumping the sky unit.
