Hey guys I’m after a bit of advice.

My current router is awful for WiFi. It is located at my first floor box room.

I have an Ethernet connection from the box room into my lounge. Can someone recommend a solution for improved WiFi? I understand I can turn my current router to modem mode only.
I have a budget of around £200.

thanks all.

As per previous similar threads, if your problem is WiFi and the router otherwise meets your needs, the obvious solution would be an AP hard wired in a central location (think first floor landing for example), something like the Unifi 6 Lite is my default suggestion, but given the cost since the VAT changes, it’s hard not to recommend the Honor Router 3 or Huawei AX3 as an AP as it’s half the price. Everyone I know who has tried one (or more) has been sceptical, but for the price they’re the cheapest way to do a WiFi 6 mesh set-up with wired backhaul that isn’t awful, nobody I know has actually used one as a router though, but I wouldn’t expect it to be any worse in that respect than VM’s SH2.

I did buy before I knew about the AX3. But so far been impressed with Mercusys MR50G. Under 40notes and massivly improved my WiFi. (I have an old R7000 in living room (back) and this in front bedroom and now always get 866mbs in the whole house).

I have had my superhub 2 replaced by the 3. However, wifi downstairs is still a tad crap. I have therefore ordered an AX3, can i assume i can use this in conjunction with the SH3 as a wifi booster in my lounge?

Just to add it will be wired into ethernet wall socket to router in 1st floor box room where SH3 is located.
