Replacement for the GTX275?

This threads now 4 months old and my PC still crashes after 10mins of COD with the case side on... it'll go all night when its not... so I either buy a new faster card or buy a cooler...

The cards now 16 months old... what's a good upgrade for £150 :)

I'd fork out the extra £30 for one of these

A GTX460 768mb would be more of a sideline upgrade to a GTX275, GTX460 1GB should be fine too.

However the MSI Hawx one provides better cooling and thus more room for overclocking in the future.

Think you need to sort out some better case cooling before upgrading ;)
Maybe add more fans or replace the fans you have with faster fans

What CPU cooler are you using ??

I'd want to verify exactly what is overheating before replacing parts. It could be your CPU, RAM or GPU. Even NB. RAM's also are sensitive to heat as they begin to fail.

No matter what is that's overheating you should be able to correct it. If you think it is the GPU that's overheating just take the cooler off and apply new thermal paste to it, assuming the fan is still working.

Throwing parts at the issue without an accurate diagnosis rarely works.

Am I throwing money away more money on say a Zalman VF-3000? The card seems to easily support 1920x1080 COD WAW everything up.. with the case open.. however Speedfan says it running at 92 degrees after a close quarters battle with the case open :D (it crashes well before this closed)

Am I right in thinking the more costly and exotic the card the less heat and stress will be generated from it

I love my lianli case and there seems to be plenty of air passing through it.. both 120mm fans have now piggy backed 120mm fans zip tide to them... the case internals feel cool... the zalman cooler on the CPU feels coolish, the RAM feels OK, even the north bridge now feels moderate.. maybe Ive got a factory bad 'hot' card and it needs cooling?

Am paused to buy a new card and would only throw this one in the bin as my mates have all superseded me with GTX 460's They are laughing when I drop out of games due to crashes.... :(

Your faithfully
Confused.. :D

GTX460 768MB would be more of a sidestep upgrade to a GTX275. A 1GB would be an improvement but not by much.

A GTX560Ti/GTX470 would be a noticable upgrade.

Indeed. I recently upgraded from a 275 and was going to get a 560 until the 470 offer appeared, so got that instead.

I was honestly surprised how much people raved about the 460 when it appeared, considering it was barely any faster than the old 275.
