Righto- my TRUE black and silent eagle se's are being returned so I need a replacement!

1) I can stick with a TRUE but get some other fans - thinking noctua/enermax magma/enermax cluster.

2) Get a Noctua with 2 fans (the 1366 set).

3) Something else? But would need to be able to use 2 fans I think.

Nothing but it needed to be replaced and so taking the opportunity to reconsider my choice. Am tempted to just get a replacement TRUE but wondering if the Noctua or anything else would be better?

How did you manage to damage one? They're pretty solidly built, so would love to know what went wrong.

To significantly beat one for temps you need to put some effort into a watercooling loop, though new fans help if the current ones aren't very good. Alternatively, lapping a TRUE can lead to better results if you wish to avoid water.

In a nutshell, the HR-01+ and Xigmatek s1283 are better than the TRUE if you want a quiet PC, but the TRUE is best is you want as much speed as you can from your CPU and aren't bothered about noise. :)

What are you after, quietness or speed?

As suggested try lapping the TRUE, i lapped my black version and saw a temp drop of 12c, albeit in conjunction with a lapped q6600 as well.

It's simple really, there is no better air cooling than what you have without lapping.

The HR-01 plus is better with a 120mm fan running lower than 900rpm, but 1000rpm and over is where the Ultra 120 extreme/true take over. With an I7 it's a given that your fan will more than likely be running over 1000rpm when your not idling.

If you want better you have to lap it or move to water cooling!!
