I'm looking for a budget replacement for my trusty old X1950 Pro. I was looking at the ATi 6600 cards. How much better will one of these be over the X1950 Pro I have now?

A HD 4890 would give you an even bigger boost if you can live without DX11.

Not sure your PSU is up to it though.

HD 5770 v HD 4890

A HD 6770 is just a HD 5770 with a different name.

If you can stretch to £110-£120 then a HD 6850.

Cheers for the replies. I'm going to try to stick to my budget so think I will order one of those 6670 cards. A new PSU as well me thinks ;)

Ordered a 6600 Ultimate (on special this week only) + a Be Quiet 530W PSU. It will be interesting to see how much difference the gfx card makes.

Fitted the new card and PSU last week. Very pleased with this. The card has made a big difference over the X1950 & the PSI whisper quiet. All good ;)

Have you overclocked your E2180?

I used to have one and it ran quite nicely at 2.8Ghz.
No I haven't. Never tried any overclocking to be honest. How hard would it be to overclock the CPU? Would I have to look at a better CPU cooler/heatsink if I'm going to get into all that stuff?!

Glad you are pleased with your purchases mate and good luck. But I have to say why you bought a 6670 over a 6770 when the second one is so superior is beyond me.

I had the 1950 pro and found it a really capable card for the price, went to a 3870x2 when it first came out and the difference was amazing, can imagine your increase in performance is even better :)

Nice purchase

I really wanted a passively cooled card to keep the noise down. The 6670 is the most powerful passively cooled gfx card you can buy as far as I'm aware. Great price as well, even though you can get a 6770 for the same price. But my PC is so quiet now that if I wasn't sitting hear typing this I wouldn't even think it was switched on ......... I actually did something really stupid the other day. I was using the computer at the time but the tower was so quiet I actually checked under the desk to make sure it was on!!! Dah!! :p
