Replacement help

Hi i don't know too much about Computers and i'm looking to upgrade my laptops graphics card but i'm not to sure what would be a good option.
currently i have a Dell Inspriron 6400 with:

1gb ram
2x 1.73GHz CPU
Windows XP professional
: Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family

Looking for something abit more powerful with a pixel/vertex shader that would be good for running games and easily compatible with my current spec, but also still reasonably cheap.
