Replacement Laptop Battery

I'm looking to replace the battery on my old laptop.

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy them from?

I've googled what I require but it seems to return lots of dodgy looking websites.

The laptop is a Compaq Presario C700 and ideally I'm looking for a 12 cell battery.

Not sure if they're a competitor.. and if I'm allowed to name them? But kindle people surely have your battery.

Im looking for a replacment laptop battery too but dont want to buy a no-name battery as these things have li-ion cells in which can be dangerous

Are there any quality suppliers of replacement batteries?

I recommend buy compatible battery from companies who recycled and reused OEM batteries on ebay.

I been bought 3 Dell Inspiron 9400 compatible batteries on ebay years ago. Last year my old Samsung Q1 UMPC original battery depleted and I bought compatible battery for Q1 from ebay, worked great until I traded it for Linx 10.

That's the sort of mistake I want to avoid - I didn't know there were issues with li-ion batteries.

I need one for an Acer S3 391 ultrabook. Doesnt seem made for user servicing, I think I have to send it to them.

Don't buy an el cheapo, buy a used genuine one. I did this for my toshiba laptop, cost me about £20 and it's got a good life to it.

There are various reputable places you can get laptop batteries (and parts) from however, you can do a search.

(I cannot post a link due to them technically being competitors, due to forum rules.)

That's like a 6 year old budget laptop.

If all it's used for is a bit of web surfing spend a little bit more than a genuine battery would cost and pick up a used Chromebook.

I bought three third party batteries off eBay in the past and none lasted more than a couple of months. In the end I paid around £100 for a battery direct from Dell and wouldn't touch a used or non oem battery again.

You are right it is an ancient budget laptop. I don't just use it for web browsing though, I also use it intermittently (when travelling) for games (old ones like Baldur's Gate) and QGIS and Office.

I also like the screen and keyboard. But as it's only used intermittently and it does what I want it to do I'm looking to extend it's life for a couple of years before I buy something else.

£100 for a battery? :eek:

When I bought new refurnished Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop from Dell outlet in 2006. Dell battery lasted 2 years, dad don't want to pay insanely price like £70 for replacement battery direct from Dell ever. He wanted cheapest battery that been recycled and reused just like printer cartridges, I remembered bought first battery on ebay. First was not bad lasted a year, second battery was bad lasted 3 months and current third battery bought in 2009 still worked survived incredible 6 years now. :cool:

Same went with old Samsung Q1 UMPC battery, don't want to pay insanely £100 for a friggin new Samsung battery, bought new battery that was recycled with new cells for £30 worked brilliant until I traded it for Linx 10.
