Ok so the other day i went to through a usb flash drive to my mate across the room, he missed the catch and the drive hit his screen causing a crack so now that needs to be replaced.

Its some 16" or 17" laptop from last year, it's not full hd or anything. I was just wondering how much a replacement screen would roughly cost and are they easy enough to fit yourself or would i be better taking it to a shop?

Without knowing the exact model no will be able to give you a price. As for changing it yourself it'll also depend on the model, some are straight forward others less.

A 15.6" 16:10 ratio when I priced it up was about £70-£90 depending on where it's sourced. From what I looked at it wasn't that difficult to fit but as Shine mentions it does depend on the model. Plenty of guides out there, maybe one will be similar to your laptop.

cheers guys, i'll get the laptop off him tomorrow and get the exact model. does anyone know a reliable place to source the screen?

We're not allowed to mention competitors unfortunately, not that I know anywhere anyway lol but google shopping has a 5 star rating system which should give you a good guide on who to be trusted :)
