I stood on my girlfriends laptop and cracked the screen so need to replace it. Searching on Google and the jungle place there are a few for around £300, and then loads for around £60. Are the cheaper ones going to be dodgy knockoffs, or are they fine? Obviously I'd rather get the cheap ones, but the massive discrepancy in price is concerning me. Or are the £300 sellers just trying to cash in on selling a £60 screen at a massive mark up?

if its a 22" top of the line mac the £60 screen will be a cheap knock off..

if its an average 15" windows laptop it will (should) be fine - my friend repairs broekn screens and alwys jsut gets the £40 - 60 ones from the bay

Yup. Specially if it's for your non technical GF - any old screen is fine.

There are plenty of legit places you can buy the screens from without resorting to the rainforest.

I use these guys: http://www.laptopscreenonline.com/

I don't think OCUK can see these as a competitor if so please delete.

I hope you have replaced them before because they are not intended to be changed by the faint hearted!

Its a 14.1" screen. I got a £50 one off eBay but its a seller who is also on Amazon and had lots of positive feedback.

Its fine. I can't tell any difference to the original screen. Its not used for gaming or anything so will be fine.

Nope, first time. Last time too. I managed it, but my god it was fiddly as hell. 2 hours of tiny screw hell.
