Replacement laptop screens?

My son decided to see how strong the screen surround on his laptop is, cracked it and now although it boots the screen is ruined.

So I find some replacement screens on the Worlds favourite auction site and they're all £35-£45. Now I thought the screen was half the price of the laptop in the past, and obviously these are cheap Chinese knock offs but has anyone bought one? A genuine Dell screen will likely be hundreds, will one of these last at all? It's a relatively low res screen from a Dell Inspiron Q15R (I think, it's at his mums), 1366x768 I'm sure.

No such thing as a genuine dell screen. They all come with LG Philips, Samsung, Au Optronics etc. The stuff you see pm ebay is what are in them from factory.

I would advise taking the old one apart before you order a new panel so you can see the hidden part numbers and what and where the connectors are. This gives you much greater confidence that you are buying a matching replacement, ask the seller if necessary and provide the info. These non-Dell replacements work fine.
