Does anyone know where I can buy a reliable third party MBP charger?

Mine is knackered, the cable has virtually disintegrated at the magnetic part with the orange LED. I really don't want to have to spend £60 on a new one so can anyone recommend a cheaper alternative?

Cheers

If you have a search around you can get genuine ones for £25, they just don't come with the part that plugs into the wall socket.

I bought a copy for £15 off an auction site. Casing split near the end of the cable within a couple of days.

For 1 reason or another I didn't send it back (probably didn't want to be without my macbook for a few days) but its still going strong. The unit does tend to get warm but sometimes there is a burning smell from it. (This is a really good endorsement :) But like yourself just couldn't afford the outlay on an official one. Now, I don't care much as I am seriously considering going for a new ipad.

Buy a proper one. I've only ever seen grief come from using the knock-offs.

Rule of thumb is 60w for one with integrated graphics, 85w for one with a discrete chip (i.e. a 15/17" MacBook Pro).
