Fairly simple Q but I've never experienced this....

The other half managed to have one of those one in a million "noooooooooooo" situations and dropped her 2016 Mercedes GLA key down a drain. We've tried to retrieve it, it's gone.

So we can still use the car as we have the spare but it obviously needs replacing.

I contacted a few places and have a single quote of about £400 which is sort of what I was expecting but does anyone have any suggestions for companies to use/experience with Mercedes (who seem mad expensive for basically anything tbh).

It's a keyless entry/go key but not the most expensive recent one.

Looks like this:

Any help appreciated!

I think you'll have difficulty using someone other than the manufacturer because it'll need to be coded to the car and I doubt mercedes would be willing to program something they didn't supply.

I could be wrong though, all my cars have had standard keys.

a few years ago i had a merc and it worked out cheaper from a dealer, than a auto locksmith. also if you order with a chassis number they will come pre programmed from mercedes direct , only faff was going to dealer with document to prove onwnership, and pay lol. key worked as should first time.

Depends what you mean by cost effective, I had a few 3rd party quotes on the assumption that mercedes are lol expensive for anything.. all somewhere between £4-500

Then I called Mercedes this morning and it's £340!

As above it is a slight faff going to them to order it but I think anyone in their right mind would prefer it to be that way rather than too easy.

yeap:)
the way they explained it to me was they could supply a remote for about 120. and then charge 1 hour to program to car.
150 to supply from mercedes direct to car chassis number , pre programmed plug and play, no brainer i was getting quotes around 300 and at the time i was in the trade :)
