Replacement Mini Key?

Anyone know how much a replacement key is from MINI?

Or is it more cost effective to buy a key on Ebay and get it reprogrammed and the key cut separately?

I think I paid around £90 maybe 4 years ago for a new remote key including coding. I needed proof of ownership for the car.

Thats about right I reckon. I asked Audi how much for a replacement key....£250! Managed to source my own key and got a local key place to sort it. £110 in the end.

If it's an R56 (2007+) the dealership will have the codes stored to the vehicles chassis number and should be able to do you a key on the spot with proof of ownership (V5 etc)

If it's an R50/52/53 (2001-2006) you will need to get a new key programmed to the car (Which will probably incur an extra labour charge)

Prices range from about £90 from what someone said below to the £150 mark depending on what you need.
