At the moment am using a GIgabyte Z170 Gaming K3 MOBO but am unable to use it for sli.
1 x PCI Express x16 slot
other one's running a 4x
How bad will it be adding a seconed 1080?
so looking for new board to go with my I5 6600 running at 4.5gb
stay with z170 or move to Z270/H270
Or wait till new boards come in?

Brand i want is a ASUS
With thanks in advice

SLI won't work at all on that board as it needs a pair of slots at 8x/8x minimum. This is why it's important to choose the correct motherboard when originally building a pc rather than having to go through the hassle of upgrading boards and reactivating windows at a later point. What res do you game at? Personally I would rather avoid multi card setups and will always favour a single card. Rather than buy a second 1080 how about selling the one you have and getting a 1080ti instead? What make and model psu do you have?

That 1080 should be more than enough for that monitor. If you are not happy then sell the 1080 and get a single 1080ti, that would max that monitor easy enough plus you won't have any potential dual card bugs/lack of game support. My 1070 would power that monitor which was why I bought it in the first place but then the monitor prices went through the roof.
