Hi Guys

I've had this system and it's just 3 months out of warrantee, unfortunately OCUK only gave 1 year when I ordered, think they've changed policy now to 2 but hey ho:

OCZ ZX Series 850W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply
Asus Xonar DG 5.1 PCI Sound Card with built in Headphone Amp -
OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM

Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
Asus P8Z68 DELUXE Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Corsair Hydro H80 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (Socket
Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155
Cooler Master HAF X Gaming Tower Case - Black (RC-942)
Dell UltraSharp U2711 27" Widescreen LCD Monitor

I've got a problem with the power connection to the mobo, it's been arcing from a couple of connectors on the strip and the connection is now intermittent works sometimes if I move the lead and can last all day but other times I need to keep moving the lead to achieve a connection.

Obviously this state of affairs isn't going to last before it fails permanently.

Question is what board should I replace it with?

I would like to be able to use all my existing hardware of course.

Also I'm worried about the CPU cooler, would I need to use heat compound on this to make sure it's effective?

Thanks in advance

John

Are you 100% that its the mobo not some faulty wires in the PSU loom?

If you do change the board you will need new TIM to get your cooler to perform properly i seem to remember there being a massive test thread on their respective performance, i think it was Stulid that did it, worth a look if your buying some.

When I first identified the problem OCUK sent me a replacement power lead, but now the new one has the same issues and when I remove it the connector on the Mobo has blackened on a couple of the centre sockets.

Not sure if it's the mobo but presume the amount of power it draws is probably at issue.

I've also changed the settings in the BIOS to run green instead of overclocked, hopefully that will mean less power is required.

But can I just get any 1155 mobo as a replacement and all the above fit?

rma the board if its faulty, you have 3 year warranty

it shouldn't be black either,it arcing/shorting inside the block connector, its either poor psu cables or the motherboard block is faulty

Thanks guys, OCUK said that warrantee had expired but I'll ring them again tomorrow and ask if they can do anything considering I sent £2K on this pc at it's only just outside warrantee.
