Replacement of Macbook via customer relations.

I've had my CoreDuo Macbook since release date (Late 2006).

Since this period I've had the topcase replaced about 8 times due to the cracking issue.

Last month I took it in to be replaced once again. It was fitted incorrectly and I've since made 5 trips as they have now fitted it incorrectly again. I can take it off and do it myself but thats not the point here.

Upon calling the Apple store today I've been told I would need to make another Genius bar appointment for it to be looked at and then make another appointment to have it re-fitted as they would need to order the part.

So I've now called Support direct and they have advised that due to how many times it has been replaced and also due to the stupidity of the staff at the store it might be possible to offer me a brand new replacement.

I've got to call back on Monday to speak to customer relations for further clarification.

Has anyone else had a similar experience - I cannot believe they would offer a brand new replacement for a four year old system.

I could see it happening considering the amount of times you've been in to get it fixed. They pride themselves on customer care, so it might be easier for them to just offer you a replacement to keep you happy.

I might take mine in to get fixed now and hope they screw me around. :D

I wouldn't mind if the staff at Apple Meadowhall weren't so up themselves every time I go in.

However when they treat you like rubbish then its not on. Fitting a topcase is a 15 minute job at the best of times. I shouldn't have to go back and forth numerous times to have it fitted correctly.

I shall see what they say on Monday - I'm not going to complain if I get a new system :)

It's within their power to do so if you play it right, be nice but make it clear you're unhappy about the situation and consider that at this point you expect a replacement, and it could happen.

That's the only thing I don't like about that store. It's pretty small when compared to others and always busy, all day, everyday. And I always feel its a very much a get you in/get you out experience. That said the service I received getting my iPhone their was fine but I was just waiting for about 30 mins just to tell a assistant that I wanted to buy something. :(

Result. Any idea what spec you're getting?

I've got to wait for a technician to compare specs and then get back to me.

I've asked for the 13" Macbook Pro but they may give me the White Macbook.

Either way I'm not fussed - A brand new system for free to replace a system I bought in 2006.

It took a bit of pushing and I had to get a report from an independent Apple technician to say Meadowhall had done a botch job but it was worth it in the end.
