Had a bit of an accident last week, featuring a rear derailleur getting itself mangled into my spokes, rendering it un-usable.

It's a Shimano Tiagra 4500 Short Cage Mech and I'm wondering what replacements can I buy in order to get my bike working again. The bike is currently an 8 speed, with some Shimano Sora shifters, any hints on what would be suitable would be greatly appreciated, having a look online for people in a similar situation I've found that the state of Shimano's products have changed meaning I'm unsure if they're still suitable. (e.g Tiagra 4700 not working on Tiagra 4600, which would have been suitable for me).

I purchased a second hand Tiagra 4500 from ebay as it was difficult to identify what new parts I could buy, only for on upon it's arrival one of the jockey wheel to be missing a tooth - Whilst I could replace it, at this point I think it might be worth me just being a new rear derailleur given any additional cost to buying and waiting for new jockey wheels to come.

Claris 8-speed should work with no issues, but I can't see Claris derailleurs in the webstores I use.

https://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-deore-m591-9-speed-rear-mech/ should work in theory, albeit it is designed for the easiest sprocket to be 28-34 (which is usually medium cage GS territory, rather than SS).

Hopefully I'm using the right lingo here, but I'm running 12-23 so I imagine this wouldn't be suitable sadly.

Thanks for the Claris tip, I'll see if I can hunt one down anywhere as an alternative.
