Hi all,

currently using a Corsair Builder Series CX 500W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply, but im looking to swap to a modular power supply as my case is a mess planning on re-routing some of the cables though and adding 2 120mm fans at the top (more wires :() (image at bottom sorry if it appears big) and im not liking it, a friend of mine is gathering parts for his build but is getting a bigger case than me so ive offered him my PSU as i think it will be easier for him to make the cables look tidier than in my case. Anyway can anyone recommend a modular PSU for around £50-£60

thanks

If you spend 30 mins to an hour playing around with cable routing then it will make a bigger difference than just simply dropping a new modular PSU in.

If done right then you should not need a modular PSU.

I've never quite understood the point of fully modular in comparison to mine which is a 'hybrid' (Hybrid in this instance meaning the main 24 pin rail is attached)

Surely when using a fully modular PSU - you'd still have to plug in the rail anyway? So what's the point?

Sometimes it's easier to route the cable if it can be totally disconnected.

I know you've said it. But that does look ugly. Lol

Depends on the motherboard. On mine for example the lower slots share lane traffic so it makes sense to put the GFX in the fastest slot, in this case the first.

Each slot will have a X16 or X8, X4, X4+4 etc.

Typically the first slot is always one of the faster ones so thats what people use.
