Had to RMA my Corsair XMS 3 Ram in the week as it would fail to boot using 1 of the sticks (2*4GB).

Replacements arrived yesterday. Slotted in correctly, Windows booted all seemed fine then it blue screened. This happened about 4 times in an hour.

System Restored back to intial build in case original bad RAM has caused file errors. System ran fine, however I noticed a zip file I downloaded had a large number of CRC errors.

Decided to completely reinstall Windows which failed with Error 0x80070570 which seemed to point to either a DVD or.... RAM issues.

Just ran memtest on the new RAM and 1 stick is failing as soon as the test starts with multiple errors.

Have i hit a bad batch of Corsair or is something else wrong here?

Board is asus P8Z68-V

Timings on RAM 9-9-9-24-2 @ 1.65v running 1600mhz

Running memtest now after setting to 1.5 and its got further than before with out failing. Colour me confused.

The memory controller is on the processor and with Sandy Bridge it isn't designed for 1.65V.

I think the recommendation is 1.5V +/- 5%.

It may be a case of too much being a bad thing.

Still looking good....

Would these issues be consistent with the CRC errors and WIN 7 install errors?

Great stuff, thanks for the help. Will let it run a few passes this afternoon just to check.

Full days running without a hitch. Same files downloaded without CRC errors. An hour of BFBC2. Happy :)
